You Can't Go Anywhere Until You Are Somewhere
Ever feel like you're constantly chasing the next big thing? New job, new relationship, new you? While setting goals is important, sometimes we forget to appreciate where we are and where we have been. We're so busy chasing the next achievement, we miss out on the joy of the present moment.
You Can’t Get There Until You Are Ready
There is one thing that overwhelmingly comes up in the healings I do for others - people can not be moved into a place they are not ready for. I can try and heal them, clear them, advise them, and tell them their likely path but it won't help them be somewhere they aren't.
So, why bother? Because you can't go anywhere until you are somewhere first. When I offer healing to someone, I am a grounding presence that assists them in the ability to have more of the present moment. Most of the time, we are trying to propel ourselves forward to someplace other than where we currently are. We are always on the go, moving towards new goals, executing plans, and "improving" ourselves.
Living in the illusion of greener pastures is just that, an illusion. We can't put ourselves in alignment with our highest good unless we take the time to notice what is happening right now. This is the real reason a lot of spiritual practices talk about being still and meditating or praying. It is because most of us don't slow down long enough to listen to ourselves and integrate what is.
Start From Here
Assess and assimilate where you are now. This gives you a sense of direction. It will also give you a place to push off from later. A solid sense of where you are now is like looking at a map for directions. You need to know where you are. Otherwise, it is all just random roads and landmarks.
Give these techniques a try:
Write down a list of what you have accomplished today. It could be as simple as getting up this morning.
Set aside some time to nurture yourself, as you are now, without changing anything.
Intentionally work with your breath (try box breathing).
Make a gratitude list.
Look for simple things that create a sense of awe throughout your day.
Figure out your next goal and draw a timeline. Include everything that has brought you to this point. For example, if you want to be a parent, include what has happened to prepare you to take action on that desire.
Set Goals to Your Heart’s Desire
Let the universe know what you would like to co-create. Once you are truly sitting in the present - mentally, energetically, spiritually - have fun setting new goals! You are not in complete control, but that is the fun part!
